I’ve been getting a number of people contacting me even though the culprits were arrested a few months back and I’ve since been in touch with Sky News about the continuation of Bray / MPH Engineering garage operations.
Sky News has asked me to get people to forward their cases onto them directly. Here is the email address:

They are building a database of cases to compile a new report against them, so any extra stories / experiences will really help the sky news investigation team.
How to retrive your car from the garage
I’ve had a number of people contact about how to retrieve their car from the garage recently, so I thought it would be useful to put a post on here about the right procedure to do so. To be frank, I don’t know how these guys are still operating since their arrest through SKY NEWS. This continues to happens and has been happening for over 20 years!!!
So here’s the procedure to safely pick up your car:
If you want to retrieve your car, you need to write a complaint letter to them and give them a 14 days notice to deal with your matter. If they do not reply, you have the right under consumer law to go and pick up your car and retrieve it from them. If they threaten you, you can call the police to escort you to the premises when you collect your car. If your car is un-drive-able, organise a pick-up truck to help you bring it to another more trust-worthy garage who can fix it or otherwise deliver to your chosen address.

Once you have retrieved the car, then pursue the courts procedure and file for a court case against them to retrieve you money and interest on top.

Bray Engineering (MPH Engineering) have been raided by the police
Many of those affected by the Southall garage criminals will be happy to know finally, we have a break through! I was sent a link by Sky News Investigation today to their website featuring a story on Bray Engineering, the garage in Southall being raided by a team of 75 Metropolitan police officers.
Amongst 11 of those arrested was Paul Dockerill – the registered owner of the company and probably the head of the operations – whether the arrests included his son ‘Harry Dockerill’ aka Oliver Jones, is yet to be revealed.

I feel so grateful to the team at SKY NEWS Investigation for highlighting the activities of these people publicly and finally given the authorities the push to act appropriately. Lets just hope that there is enough information for the police to press some serious charges against those who have been running the show in that garage so that we can now all rest knowing that they will never be able to do this to another single person ever again.

A Sky News investigation has uncovered a garage implicated in defrauding hundreds of customers and threatening them with physical violence.
“Clients who take cars in for repair are overcharged thousands of pounds and their vehicles impounded if they don’t pay.
Despite hundreds of complaints to police and Trading Standards, the west London garage has not been shut down and continues to trade.
Victims who take the company to court often discover the directors have dissolved the firm’s assets and simply set up a new company under a new name.
The garage, at 192 Brent Road, Southall, first began trading in 1982 as the Heathrow Engine Centre. This company dissolved last year owing creditors £554,573. ”

Here is my advice for coping with the awful situation of being well and truly conned.
1. If the company is still trading, take them to County Court – fairly easy and much cheaper to do your self. Then you become a formal creditor. When you receive the County Court judgement, use a third party debt order, to get the money. (Companies bank details needed.)
2.Report the case to YOUR local trading standards office. Do not report it to Ealing TSO unless you live in that borough.
3. Report your case to YOUR local MP. He will liase with Virendra Sharma. Virendra Sharma M.P. for Southall does not have any obligations to you unless you live in his constituency.
4. Report any irregularities in Trading documentation to Companies House e.g. wrong company registration number, no company identification to Technical Offences
Team, Company House, Crown Way, Cardiff, CF14 3UZ.
5. Lodge a complaint with Companies Investigation branch enquiry@cib.gsi.gov.uk Tel 0207 5966 100. They are a government office, who have the legal muscle to act against rogue companies in the public interest, so the more people who let them know the scale of this problem the better.
6. Notify any other agency that may be appropriate in your particular case e.g police DVLA VAT – Customs and Excise etc.
People will be conned in the future bacause not enough people did anything about it in the past!
They begin to act aggressively – what next? The Police must get involved!
I just received a comment from a new victim and as this was the first I heard of MPH Engineering & co being aggressive and abusive in such a manner, I thought that this story should go in as a post for everyone visitng this site to see. They have threatened them with death and violence, the police are getting involved. I’m happy to use this blog as evidence of these thugs criminal behaviour, stuck in a loop hole, conning innocent people. When will the law step in and take control of the matter and finish them once and for all?

Please see below my experience with reconditioned engines.
Got an online quote 2 days ago from reconditioned-engines for £1495 to fully recondition an engine in my Vauxhall Vectra 2006 CDTI.It was driving but had bad oil leak and thought quote was reasonable and more reasonable than arranging fixing locally.Spoke to Gary who said they charge £200 to collect the car and collection was arranged for the next day.I have the tow vehicles reg no.Today hubby got a call asking for a further £500!Hubby refused saying they priced to do a full engine recondition and weren’t getting anything more than the £1495 and £200 agreed.Then followed lots of abusive calls.I decided to call to calm the waters as I wanted the car back and was prepared to pay the collection cost plus reasonable amount for ‘diagnosis’and was put through to Paul Thatcher.He,from the start,was extremely threatening,abusive.The usual,”I have been in prison and will slice your husband up!Use a shotgun on him!Cripple him for fxxxxing life blah blah blah.When I reminded him that he was acting very childish and very brave for a company that surround themselves with high fencing,he threatening to “blow my fxxxxing arms off!rape me and my daughter etc etc etc!!! He has said the bill is now £800 and growing every day and I will not get my car back.My daughter then called and was told the bill is now £977 and growing £10 a day and on 13 August the car will be scrapped.Trading Standards have been informed and have agreed to investigate.The police are paying me a vist and I do not intend to let this matter drop. Added 12 July 2010 – Police will be escorting me to collect my car tomorrow.They say that they have taken the engine out and it is now in the boot.The charge for us to have our car back is £977.This they will only take in cash. I am going to bombard the Inland Revenue, Customs and Excise, MPs, newspapers and anyone I can to get this company closed down. Oh and informed by the police that they are currently under investigation by the serious crime squad in London!Paul Thatcher is the real name of the Director/thug listed for Brentsouth Trading, his address is down as 9 Bays Farm Court,480 Bath Road, West Drayton UB7 0DY.

An update for you. My daughter,her boyfriend and a recovery truck left Manchester at 6.30 this morning to go to Brentsouth Trading.We had arranged for a police man to escort them there and this he did.The police had gone in there yesterday and were given our invoice,the same invoice that was supposed to have been sent to us recorded delivery, we have still not received it.They told him that they wanted £977 and for it to be paid only in cash!On arrival they were greeted by a spotty,extremely arrogant lad of about 19 years old! Is this Oliver?Am sure it isn’t Paul Thatcher as he sounds 30ish/40ish.They also dealt with a nice guy at the counter.My daughter asked to see the invoice,the spotty lad refused saying pay up first,but the nice guy got it for her.She asked to see her car,again acned guy refused but the nice guy told him to let her in.The engine was now in bits in the boot and across the back seats of the car! She asked for the recorded delivery receipt,they couldn’t find it and reluctantly deducted the £30 charge for this off her bill.The car is now on the way back to Manchester. We were reluctant to take it home, because it might not be worth it financially.However we couldn’t be sure that if we left it there our debt to them would have kept growing.
We only received help from the Police because of the threats they made.Do not want to lead you people who have been conned by these cowboys,but if you should have a conversation with them that becomes threatening, as I am sure it will if you get put through to Paul Thatcher,then report it to the Police. You will get a crime number.Liase with them about collecting your car and say that you are afraid to go on your own, then hopefully you will be escorted.You will still have to pay out but they can’t be too corrupt with you with a policeman as a witness?

Below is the letter to the MP Virendra Sharma for the people and myself:

Hi there,
I’m writing to you to bring to your attention and in order to seek your help as the MP within the Southall council the criminal activities taking place under the premises of 169 Brent Road, Southall Middlesex UB2 5LE.
The business is supposedly a ‘Reconditoned Engines’ specialists. They operate under the names of MPH Engineering Ltd, Engine Warehouse Ltd, Heathrow Engine Ltd, Engine Center Ltd and probably many other names, which they switch between from time to time in order to con honest hard working people of their monies. Probably over 100,000 people and myself have been conned by these men over the past 25 years, yet, they are still operating as a commercial business.
People find them via the internet when they type in ‘Reconditoned Engines’, the people are then prompted to fill in the online form with details of the problems with your car. The hoax company then contacts you and gives you a quote which is usually lower than the going market, once they have your car in their garage, they then call back doubling the price of the original quote and demand payment from the car owner upfront. If they refuse to pay, they then don’t give the car back to the owner and state that they have done works on the car that the owner must pay for. People end up paying 1000’s of pound for their car that hasn’t been fixed, ripped apart and end up ometimes worse off then before. They have been known to switch your engine for another car engine.
There has been a long discussion on moneysupermarket.com complaining about their experience with these people.
I have started a blog: www.mphengineering.wordpress.com, where many people have contacted me and 1,587 people have visited, sharing their stories, stating they have been through the same horrible experience as I have. The purpose of the blog is to give these people as much information as possible to help their situation. I’ve spoken to many people about the situation, and the law never seems to be on our side, the police cannot do anything either as it always ends up being a civil matter. How are customers protected from such companies as these? They have been taken to court many times, some reclaim their money back, but the majority don’t, because these men lie in court and when people win the court case, they then file their company for liquidation and withdraw all monies owed to these people.
They have been on Watch Dog and the newspaper for their operations and have been taken to court for providing a service that they are not capable of.
